# Batch Loan Termination

The Batch Loan Termination page allows you to close multiple loan accounts at once by uploading a pre-formatted spreadsheet file. This is used when you need to terminate a large number of loans simultaneously; for example, at the end of a loan cycle or during a portfolio restructure. This guide will walk you through the batch loan termination process.

## Accessing Batch Loan Termination

1. Log into the application using your credentials.
2. From the dashboard, navigate to **Data Upload** in the side menu.
3. Expand **Data Upload** and Select **Batch Loan Termination** from the dropdown list

## Terminating Loans in Bulk

1. Click **Download Loan Termination Format** to download the pre-formatted spreadsheet template
2. Populate the template with your loan data and save the file in [**.xlsx**](/core-features/data-upload/batch-loan-termination.md#terminating-loans-in-bulk), [**.xls**](/core-features/data-upload/batch-loan-termination.md#terminating-loans-in-bulk), or [**.csv**](/core-features/data-upload/batch-loan-termination.md#terminating-loans-in-bulk) **format**
3. Click **Browse** or **drag and drop** the completed file into the upload area
4. Click **Terminate Batch Loans**; a confirmation modal will appear asking: **"Are you sure you want to Terminate this Loans?"**
5. Click **confirm** to proceed

> :pushpin:Ensure the file is not empty before submitting. The system will display a "File is empty" error if no data is detected in the uploaded file. Each loan account in the file must be active, and a termination reason code and settlement account must be specified.
